The Marine Service Writer is the direct connection between customers and boatyard personnel. This person is responsible for assessing customers’ boats and equipment to determine the repairs or maintenance necessary. This role requires effective communication skills, customer service, and team work. The service writer will use PierVantage software to write work orders and develop estimates. S/he will call, email and meet with customers to keep them informed about progress, to manage their expectations for work completion, and to advise them of necessary change-orders. The service writer will have regular meetings with boatyard staff to remain apprised of work, and s/he will manage the incoming workload and scheduling for the service team. At the end of each job, the service writer will review estimates and customer billing to confirm all parts are accounted for and billed accurately. Other office and maintenance responsibilities as needed. Heavy equipment operation experience, boat operation experience, and a valid driver’s license are preferred. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position.
